Creativity: Is it the Cure?

“Let’s get @#$%&*! creative!” screamed the CEO.

Hey, innocent lives are at stake, and all the usual thinking has failed to result in any breakthrough.

After all, creativity is the cure-all to everything, right?

  • Absence of innovation
  • Lack of attention
  • Low sales volume
  • Ideas failing to spread
  • Blending in
  • Sounding old, tired and cliche

Dear CEO, I disagree.

Connecting the Dots

Most of us have it backwards:

Creativity isn’t the outcome or result that’s desired.

What then is this highly valued thing called creativity?

It’s the tool, the means to an end, that brings about innovation, insight, ingenuity and breakthroughs

It’s not a matter of collecting the dots. It’s all a matter of connecting the dots.

Like Hungarian physicist Albert Szent-Gyorgyi said: “Research is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what NOBODY else has thought.”

The Lesson Creativity Taught Us

The lesson is simple dear CEO: Use creativity to get you there.

It’s the fuel that will drive you and your team to the finish line.
